Member Match Funding

Some of our Members have moving, personal stories which drive them to raise funds on behalf of a charity.

On a quarterly basis, the Trust offer Member Match-Funding which provides Members with an opportunity to boost their fundraising efforts. The Trust will match up to £1,000 of any sponsorship raised to support registered charities throughout the UK, helping some wonderful charities along the way.

Last year, 21 of our Members managed to undertake a range of wild and wacky activities. We continue to support requests in 2026 when we hope to benefit many more worthwhile and deserving causes.

Wayne Colley Memorial Football Match

After the heartbreaking loss of a close friend in 2023, Dan from our Assembly Division turned grief into action – for the last 3 years he has been raising sponsorship to take part in the Wayne Colley Memorial Football Match. His efforts supported Ashgate Hospice in Chesterfield, an incredible organisation that provided essential bereavement care to Wayne’s wife and three children during a difficult time.

What began as a tribute has grown into a powerful annual tradition. Together, the event has now raised an outstanding £27,000— to which the Trust was proud to contribute.

Well done Dan!

Manchester Half Marathon

In October last year, David from our Facilities & Environment Team took on the Manchester Half Marathon, running not just for the finish line, but for a deeply personal cause. He dedicated his challenge to his good friend, Tom Davies, while raising vital funds for the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA).

In 2024, at just 29 years old, Tom was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND)—a life-altering condition. For Tom, the journey began with changes to his speech and difficulty swallowing, before progressing to weakness in his hands, arms, and legs, making standing and walking increasingly challenging.

Throughout this incredibly difficult time, the MNDA has been a constant source of support - providing funding for essential, life-enhancing equipment, as well as emotional and practical help for Tom and his loved ones.

Driven by friendship and determination, David’s run was about far more than the miles - it was about standing beside Tom, raising awareness, and helping ensure others facing MND receive the same vital support.

Fantastic David!

London Marathon for Marie Curie

Jason from our Body Shop took on the incredible challenge of running the London Marathon in support of Marie Curie—a charity that provided invaluable end-of-life care for his mum and vital support for his family during an incredibly difficult time.

Having experienced their compassion and dedication first-hand, Jason was inspired to give back. He wanted other families to receive the same level of care and comfort, and he knew the best way to do that was by raising funds for this life-changing charity.

Through his determination and generosity, Jason raised an outstanding £1,291. With match funding, that total reached an amazing £2,291—enough to provide 99 hours of specialist nursing care for people living with terminal illness.

Reflecting on his achievement, Jason said: “Running the marathon was challenging, but knowing the reason why gave me the strength I needed to get over the finish line.”

Cycling for Birmingham Children's Hospital

John, a Group Leader from our Press Maintenance Team, took on an incredible endurance challenge - cycling over 100 miles from Wolverhampton to Aberdovey—all in support of Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity.

The hospital cares for some of the sickest children in the UK, and fundraising plays a vital role in helping to create a comforting, home-like environment while also supporting groundbreaking research into new treatments and cures for childhood diseases.

With determination and commitment, John raised an impressive £465 for this fantastic cause which was matched by the Trust. And as if that wasn’t enough, he also burned an incredible 4,023 calories along the way!

A huge well done, John—an inspiring effort for an amazing cause.

Cycling from London to Paris for MS UK

Steve, a dedicated member of our Paint Maintenance team, has faced an incredibly personal journey since his wife Emily was diagnosed with MS in 2015. Last year brought even greater challenges, as Emily’s condition progressed to Primary Progressive MS, a more aggressive form of the illness.

Determined to make a difference, Steve and his cycling club, took part in the ambitious “Cycle Mickleover London to Paris 2025” event.  This remarkable challenge covered nearly 200 demanding miles. The first leg was a gruelling 60-mile ride from London to Newhaven, followed by a 5-hour ferry crossing to Dieppe.  From there, he powered on through a further 125 miles, all the way to the iconic city of Paris.

Steve’s mission goes far beyond the miles—supporting MS-UK in their vital work to provide resources, care, and hope to those living with MS.  His journey raised an incredible £4,700, including £1,000 member match funding – what a powerful example of resilience, determination, and turning personal challenges into something truly impactful.

Movember

Julian, alongside his team from our Toyota Lean Management Centre didn’t just participate in Movember — they went all in.

They proudly grew, shaped and groomed their impressive range of moustaches, from the effortlessly stylish to the wonderfully scruffy.

When the final day arrived, the team marked the grand finale with a ceremonial shave off — and turned those moustaches into meaningful impact. Their efforts raised vital funds for Derbyshire Mind, supporting mental health awareness and services across the community.

A lovely gesture, full of humour and purpose. A great time for a great cause.

Belfast Marathon Diabetes UK

Ash from our Production Control Team went the extra mile—literally—by taking on the Belfast Marathon to raise funds for Diabetes UK. His motivation was deeply personal, running in support of his partner, Isabelle, who has lived with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) since being diagnosed at just six years old.

T1D presents daily challenges, not only for those living with the condition but also for the people who support them. Driven by a desire to make a difference, Ash was determined to raise awareness and contribute to the fight against T1D for Isabelle and countless others.

Rising to the challenge, he exceeded his £500 fundraising target - an incredible achievement that will help support vital research and care. A fantastic effort—well done Ash!

Tough Mudder for Mecap

Adam, one of our Maintenance Trainees, pushed himself to the limit by taking on the gruelling “Tough Mudder” challenge—an intense 15km course packed with over 20 demanding obstacles. Rising to the occasion, he raised an impressive £867 for a cause close to his heart.

Adam’s motivation is deeply personal. His uncle, who has lived with brain damage since birth, has been supported by the amazing charity Mencap for many years. Thanks to their care, he benefits from a safe, stable, and supportive care home environment. Having seen this first-hand during his regular visits. Adam says,

It’s amazing to see what they do—not just for my uncle, but for everyone living there.”

In recognition of his incredible effort and dedication, the Trust was delighted to match his fundraising contribution.

Edinburgh Marathon for Motor Neurone Disease Association

Joe from our Assembly Division smashed the Edinburgh Marathon — all in support of the incredible Motor Neurone Disease Association.

Driven by the memory of a loved one lost to MND, Joe laced up his trainers and powered through the course in an astonishing 3 hours, 41 minutes and 26 seconds. Along the way, he raised an impressive £1,555, boosted further by £1,000 in Member Match Funding.

And this wasn’t a gentle jog in the park. Joe battled 40mph headwinds, bursts of torrential rain, and even hail, pushing through everything the Scottish weather could throw at him.

Outstanding effort, Joe — what an achievement!

Macmillan Darts Marathon

Steve from our Deeside Engine Plant, backed by his unstoppable Royal British Legion darts team, stepped up to the oche for the Macmillan Darts Marathon — a challenge that pushes even the toughest players to their limits. The mission: 12 hours of nonstop darts or 100,000 points, whichever came first.

Steve didn’t just rise to the challenge… he obliterated it. With laser sharp focus and a champion’s stamina, he smashed through the target, hitting 100,002 points in just 8 hours and 40 minutes.

To top it off, not only did Kev raise a fantastic £1,236, including Member Match-Funding, but having pressed one's tweeds and polished one's boots, he won the award for most dapper dressed gent – spiffing!

His incredible effort rallied family, friends and colleagues, raising £1,012.89, which the Trust boosted with an additional £1,000 — a fantastic total for a brilliant cause.

Bullseye!

A huge congratulations to Alex for raising an impressive £485, which the Trust was proud to match, doubling the impact of his fantastic achievement.
