Derby Manufacturing University Technical College and The JCB Academy

Derby Manufacturing University Technical College (DMUTC) and The JCB Academy both provide an Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering curriculum which allows pupils (aged 14-19) to study a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) based curriculum, alongside core GCSEs and a wide range of enrichment activities.

As an employer sponsor, TMUK are fully committed to supporting a common aim to give young people the opportunity to reach their full potential, whilst generating future employees for the engineering and manufacturing sector.

TMUK is one of a number of companies supporting this education initiative, alongside the University of Derby, Rolls-Royce and Bombardier.

Working with the senior management team, both at the DMUTC and The JCB Academy, we provide exciting and stimulating opportunities for students. TMUK devise part of the curriculum and deliver classroom activity to the young people during the academic year.

TMUK demonstrate how theoretical concepts have very real and exciting practical applications within our business. This type of activity does not currently exist in secondary schools in the surrounding area and will open up a range of different pathways, career opportunities and learning experiences for students.

The support provided includes:

  • Leadership and practical support in the creation and maintenance of a series of high quality, work related student projects, known as the Toyota Challenge.
  • Mentoring support to students and staff.
  • Offering practical resources, access to equipment, site visits and presentations to groups of students, known as STEM enrichment days.
  • Guidance, expertise and experience in interview techniques.
  • Work experience to students.
