Toyota Manufacturing UK Charitable Trust
Since the start of production in 1992, Toyota Manufacturing UK has contributed to a variety of local community causes. Through the social contributions programme, over £5 million has been donated to charities and organisations with focus based around four areas - environment, children, education and health.
In 2008, the Toyota Manufacturing UK Charitable Trust (reg no 1124678) was established with the continued aim of supporting local community charitable activity within the Burnaston and Deeside areas.
Funds are raised in a variety of ways. Activities have included a recital which was performed by the daughters of Toyota Manufacturing UK's Managing Director, Shigeru Teramoto. Whilst on holiday in the UK, they performed to an assembled audience of over 100 guests. Mizuho, who plays the violin and Minami, who plays the piano, are both classically trained musicians and, together, form a duo of musical perfection. The sisters played pieces from Elgar, Debussy, Massenet and Beethoven, raising £1,000 for the Trust.
Our employees have generously supported the Trust in many wonderful and wacky ways. Activities have ranged from climbing Mount Kilimanjaro to cycling from John O'Groats to Lands End in the snow. Last Christmas, our employees showcased their favourite Christmas jumpers by paying to wear their jumpers to work. All in the good cause of raising funds for our local communities.
In addition, employee involvement in the community is encouraged and, where suitable, we offer financial support for our employees who undertake fund raising activities. Support is also available to local community organisations in which our employees pay an active role.
