Young People on the Road to Success

In October 2016, the Toyota Manufacturing UK Charitable Trust proudly launched the first “Proactive Partnership” with local charity Sporting Futures. The “Toyota Road to Success” programme provided young people aged 16-25 across Derby city and South Derbyshire, classified as “NEET” (Not in Education, Employment or Training) with inter-personal and employability skills through interactive workshops and sports based activities.

Officially launched at the plant in Burnaston with Trustees from both charities present, as well as staff from Sporting Futures and ‘graduates’ from previous programmes, the Toyota Road to Success programme ran for a period of 3 years, providing 6 programmes for up to 25 young people each time, across Derby and Swadlincote.

Young People participating in the programmes enjoyed various sporting activities, such as High Ropes activity, Rock Climbing and Den Building as well as CV writing, interview preparation and presentation skills. In addition, the programme included a day at Burnaston for activities, a factory tour and an end of programme graduation event.

If you would like to support the Sporting Futures charity to help them make a real difference to the lives of young people across Derbyshire, you can do so by fundraising, entering Sporting Futures Events or sponsorship.
