Corporate Responsibility Governance


Good governance and CSR require active identification of opportunity, management of the associated risks, open communications, measurement and transparency. Toyota Manufacturing UK is committed to conducting its business and opertaions on sound principles, maintaining the highest standards of corporate behaviour and complying with all legislation and regulations.

Board of Directors

Our board consists of a Chairman and six Directors. The duties of the Directors is to ensure compliance with legisalation, ensure information regarding the company’s affairs are maintained and disclosed and to act in the best interests of the company ensuring all actions are in good faith.

The role of the board is to manage the company according to the articles of association. The board meets monthly to set strategy and review company activity. There is a monthly report to the Board meetings on complinance issues including health & safety, environment, code of conduct and legal issues.

The Corporate Affairs Director has overall responsibility for CSR within the business and regulary reports on progress and compliance at the Board of Directors meetings. The Deputy Managing Director – Manufacturing, has responsibility for environment, quality and supply chain.

Transparency

We regulary report our CSR activity through our internal company meetings through the Toyota Members Advisory Board (TMAB). Externally we report progress to our stakeholders through our website, our external newsletter and through Toyota’s European publications, including the Environment Report and Sustainability Report.

Financial monitoring

Toyota Manufacturing UK operates a policy of close monitoring of the results of the company to ensure proper compliance with the Toyota enthical standards and the appropriate recording of transactions. One an ocassional basis Internal Audits section carry out a check on the company’s compliance with the Group Standard Accounting Policies and Proceedures. Each year the annual accounts are prepared and audited by an external auditor who reporrt whether the accounts give a true and fair view and whether they have been prepared in accordance with local laws and regulations

Community

Minimising the environmental impact of our operations on the local communities surrounding our plants in Derbyshire and North Wales.

Engaging with our local communities to increase our acceptance as responsible manufacturer and good neighbour. Developing engaging education programmes targeted at raising the profile of engineering and a manufacturing careers with young people.

Environment

Minimising the environmental impact of our manufacturing operations by continuing to seek methods to reduce Greenhouse gas emissions, energy use, water use, waste and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) emissions.

Marketplace

To manufacture superior quality vehicles for our customers.
To ensure our vehicles comply to the high standards of passenger and pedestrian safety.
To ensure our vehicles comply to the highest environmental performance standards and minimise impact on the environment.

Workplace

Provide a safe working environment for all employees, contractors and visitors to site.
Providing training and development opportunities for all employees to develop skills and provide career progression.

Political lobbying

Toyota Manufacturing UK engages in political lobbying at a local, regional and national levels where appropriate to support the fulfilment of our business objectives. Through our membership of the Chamber of Commerce, Confederation of British Industry (CBI) and the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), we seek to promote and support the interests of the wider UK business community and automotive sector.
